WALKING IN MY FATHER’S
SHOES
Music & Lyrics by Satori
Mateu
I am very greatful to my dad for
giving me life and introducing me to things that have
shaped who I am today, like Martial Arts and guitar
playing, as well as my focus and determination. For
years, I compared myself to my father; wanting to
live up to his standards. Then, there was this turning
point where I realized that I must create my own path.
I asked myself, "What do I want? How do I want
to live my life?" These questions helped me discover
who I am, what I value, what really drives me. To
me, this song is about honoring your parents, yet
still knowing they are doing the best they can with
the resouces they have. They have their limitations
and only you must decide how you want to show up and
live.
I walk
Down the street
Watching people
As I wonder how I turned out this way
I see a boy
And he’s crying
And his dad says, “Boy, won’t you be a
man.”
I’m right back
To the days when my father’s words
Meant everything, and I wonder
Will I become everything that my father wants me to
be?
And who would I be if I never knew
All the things that I know today and
What would my life be about
If I were to do it all over again
Chorus:
I keep on walking
In my father’s shoes
I keep on searching
Until I find what I need
I keep on walking
In my father’s shoes
I keep on searching
Until I find what I need
I keep on walking
I see a man
Who has grown to be
All his father wants him to be and
Now, here I am at a crossroad cause
I can do anything I want and
Here’s how it goes
I only listen to the wisdom he gave to me
Cause Dad taught me to never give up
To always go for what I believe
But I’m confused cause he never did
He just left all his dreams to me
Chorus:
I keep on walking
In my father’s shoes
I keep on searching
Until I find what I need
I keep on walking
In my father’s shoes
I keep on searching
Until I find what I need
No matter what my path has been
I need to grow and find my own
I must discover my destiny
Just really be the man I am
Repeat Chorus 4x
